Donor Spotlights
Meet Trina
Meet Terence
As a Montréal-based,
lifelong actor and ally,
Terence was compelled
by the #MeToo movement
to take his support for
gender equality to centre
stage, both literally and
figuratively.
“In October 2017, the #MeToo movement took to
social media. Over the years, I had heard stories
from many women and gender-diverse friends
about their experiences with sexual harassment
and assault. However, #MeToo showed me
that the problem was much bigger than I had
imagined.
I knew then that I wanted to do something. It
finally hit me that putting on and promoting live
shows was something that I knew how to do —
and had been doing my whole career. A benefit
show was the way to go.”
Since 2018, Terence has directed all-women
live readings of popular, male-centred films,
most recently performing Reservoir Dogs. Not
only have his shows revived classic films with
a feminist spin, but they have raised $3,000 in
support of the Foundation.

Trina, the founder of communications and events
agency TRIA and a firm believer of women’s
empowerment, joined forces with women’s retailer
Veronica Beard for a Sip & Shop for a Cause
fundraiser in Toronto this past February.
“TRIA and Veronica Beard are partnering
companies who have always believed in the power
of women supporting women, not just in words, but
through meaningful action.
Bringing together a community of thoughtful,
engaged individuals — each committed in their own
way to empowering women — created an energy
that felt both inspiring and deeply collaborative.
There’s something powerful about seeing an idea
evolve into an experience that not only reflects
a brand’s values, but also creates space for
meaningful connection and dialogue.”
The event brought together women and genderdiverse people for an evening of networking,
shopping, wellness, and joy. Together, $2,000 was
raised for the Canadian Women’s Foundation —
15% of total sales from the evening. Attendees
purchased new goodies and heard from
Foundation staff about the impact their donations
will have on our work advancing gender equality.

the Foundation helps build
community and supports
gender equality.
